LA rockers Say Anything to lighten the new album

"In Defense of Categories," the LA-based pop-punk outfit deal with some pretty dark fare. Santos were sent to hell, abusive relationships earned comparisons with cancer, and the singer / songwriter Max Bemis addressed his history with drug addiction.

However, Say Anything fans want to know that it has eased – somewhat, at least – on their third album, same name and October 13 due to the RCA.

"Not that this album is not dark," Bemis said in a statement. "It’s just more fun and not in a meaningless way. I would say it is easily the closest we have come to banda a written record of our fans who want to write."

The lead single is titled "The whole world of hate," noting that perhaps the new material will not be sunny drastically that the old songs. Bemis, but said that the album certainly reflects a positive turning point in his life.

"The songs of this album were inspired by an amazing adventure that I had actually become a worthwhile person again," he said. "I had to quit my self-hatred and a general feeling of alienation has imposed on itself, that led me through a journey of self discovery, after which it fell in love and married."

"In Defense of Categories," which sold 117,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, is a tribute both to fans of the band and the bands that influenced him, said Bemis.

"Our new album departs from tradition and tries to do things differently … It is a larger, more accessible enterprise, but is twice as complex."
